INTRODUCTION
Baghmara Wildlife Resort is situated at 165 km South of Kathmandu and 15 km South East from Mahendra East-West
high way (Tadi Bazzar) at the bank of Budi Rapti river is an isolated northern area of National Park and a border of the
famous Baghmara forest(Tiger Hunted forest) of Royal Chitwan National Park. Late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev had hunted
Royal Bengal Tiger in this forest since then this forest is well known as Baghmara forest. Nepal\\\'s first National Park
is situated 162 km south of Kathmandu in the lowlands of the inner Terai. It covers an area of 937 sq. km. The park includes
hilly areas covered by deciduous Sal forest. One fifth of the park is made up of the floodplains of Narayani, Rapti, And the
Reu rivers and is covered by dense tall elephant grass interspersed with riverine forests of silk cotton, acacia and sisam
trees. This ecologically diverse area is a heaven of a wild variety of flora & fauna.
Baghmara Wildlife Resort BirdsThis is the last remaining home in Nepal for the Asian One-horned Rhino, rare
Royal Bengal Tiger & leopard, varities of deer, sloth bear, Rhesus & Longour monkey, Wild boar, Jackals, civets,
mongooses,cats and snakes(Cobra, Viper & Crait). The rivers and lakes are home to Crocodiles (Marsh Muggers & Gharial
) and the Extraordinary Gangetic dolphins.
Chitwan is also a Bird-watcher\'s delight
with more than four hundred migrant and local species birds recorded. There are Cormorants, Herons, Egrets, Storks, Baghmara
Wildlife Resort TigerCranes, Ducks, Woodpeckers, Hawks, Osprey, Falcons, Kestrel, Parakeets, Ibis, Kites, Ckoos, Kingfishers,
Swallows, Orioles, Drongos, Babblers and many others.
